Office Careers

Gadsden State Community College’s Skills Training Division offers short-term, non-credit training through the Skills Training Center on the East Broad Campus. Programs include Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Auto Body, Certified Nursing Assistant, Electrician Assistant, Machine Trades, Office Careers, Ready to Work, Truck Driving and Welding.

“Our students can upgrade their existing skills or learn a new skill,” said Baisha Woody, an instructor in the Skills Training Division. “Training can lead directly to employment, certification or advancement.”

Office Careers is a program that is growing at Gadsden State as it prepares individuals to perform the duties of administrative assistants. Instruction is provided in Microsoft Office applications, data entry, medical office procedures, records management, business calculations, accounting and career development.

“We offer specialized training programs for receptionists, general office assistants, administrative assistants, medical office assistants, legal office assistants and accounting technicians,” she said.

Customized training opportunities include basic computer skills, such as file management, mouse tutorials and internet operations; Microsoft Office programs (Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Access) and Cloud tools, such as Dropbox and Google Drive.

Students may register for classes at any time throughout the year and may continue until the appropriate skills have been obtained.
